Greg Palast is a journalist’s journalist, with the BBC and the British newspaper The Guardian, who has been called by the Tribune in the UK “the most important investigative journalist in our time.” He has won many awards including from the Financial Times,  the National Press Club and the George Orwell Courage in Journalism
In the past his investigations have included cover-ups, racketeering, and bribery among the big oil and energy companies and the nuclear industries fraudulent site testing and lies over nuclear reactor safety measures.
His new book is being released today, entitled “Vultures’ Picnic: In Pursuit of Petroleum Pigs, Power Pirates, and High Finance Carnivores”, which traverses much of the world to uncover the corruption in the oil and nuclear industries.

Professor Lawrence Lessig is the Director of the Edmond Safra Foundation for Ethics at Harvard University and a professor of law at the Harvard Law School. In the past he has been on the faculties of Stanford’s and the University of Chicago’s law schools, and clerked for the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals and for Justice Scalia on the US Supreme Court.  Prof. Lessig has specialized in law and technology and now more diligently on institutional corruption in government and particularly Congress and how this has weakened democracy.
He has won numerous awards and was named by Scientific America as one of our top 50 visionaries. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society and serves on the boards of many organizations.
His most recent book just released is “Republic Lost: How Money Corrupts Congress and a Plan to Stop It” which looks at the fundamental systemic problem in our political system which has permitted corruption to thrive and disempower the American people.

Guest:  Dr. Kedar Prasad
Dr. Kedar Prasad is currently the Chief Scientific Officer for thePremier Micronutrient Corporation and is internationally recognized as one of the leading researchers in the field antioxidant and micronutrient biochemistry.  He is formerly the director of the Center for Vitamins and Cancer Research at the University of Colorado, the former President of the International Society of Nutrition and Cancer and a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition.
Dr. Prasad has published over 200 science articles and authored and/or edited over 15 books on radiation biology, nutrition and cancer.  His most recent book is “Fighting Cancer with Vitamins and Antioxidants” which provides the science and detailed amounts for using specific antioxidants and vitamins for preventing cancer, minimizing side effects from radiation and chemotherapy, and to counteract the health risks from x-rays, mammograms and cell phones.

Dr. Andrew Wakefield is an academic gastroenterologist specializing in inflammatory bowel disease and the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine or MMR. He is a former Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and has published over 130 original scientific papers and book chapters.
In 1998, he and his colleagues at the Royal Free Hospital in London reported a novel inflammatory bowel disease in children with developmental disorders such as autism.  Dr. Wakefield resisted pressure to stop his investigations into a possible link between vaccinations, intestinal inflammation and autism.  He left the Hospital in 2001 to further pursue his research into neurological injury to children and its possible relationship to environmental  causes. In 2001 he was awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists and is a medical advisor to the British charity Visceral  and a board member of the American charity Medical Interventions for Autism.  He is also the author of Callous Disregard: Autism and Vaccines, The Truth Behind the Tragedy.

Prof. Fawaz Gerges is a Professor of Middle Eastern Politics and International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also holds the Emirates Chair of the Contemporary Middle East and is the Director of the Middle East Centre at his university. He has also taught at Oxford, Harvard, Columbia and Princeton universities. Prof. Gerges is internationally recognized as an expert in social movements in the Islamic nations, the sociology and politics of jihadist organizations such as the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda, the Arab-Israeli conflict and American and European foreign relations with the Middle East. His research on al-Qaeda are regarded by many as the most informed in print.  His latest book “The Rise and Fall of al-Qaeda” is particularly important for challenging the reliability of the US government’s and major media’s propagandized threats of a viable terrorist organization that we come to know as al-Qaeda.
Prof. Gerges has written for many publications including the NY Times, Christian Science Monitor, The Guardian and Independent in the UK, and many peer reviewed journals. And frequently many media outlets, which have included BBC, NPR, Bill Moyers, Jim Lehrer and others.

Guest:  Dr. Justin Frank
Dr. Justin Frank MD is a psychoanalyst practicing in  Washington DC and a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at George Washington University Medical Center.  Trained at Harvard Medical School, he has practiced for over 30 years and is also the co-Director of the Metropolitan Center for Object Relations in NYC.
His book “Bush on the Couch” was a best seller and detailed the psychological rationale for confirming President Bush was a president of poor mental health, unsuited for the office.
His very recent book, “Obama on the Couch: Inside the Mind of the President” promises to do same in explaining the inconsistencies and weaknesses of President Obama and the reasons why Obama the Campaigner seems to be so distinct from Obama the President.

Harriet Washington is one of America’s most important medical journalists and bioethicists today, investigating some of the darker recesses of American medicine and experimentation. She has been a fellow of ethics at Harvard Medical School and its School of Public health, a Knight fellow at Stanford University, a senior researcher at the National Center for Bioethics at Tuskegee University and a visiting scholar at the DePaul University College of Law.
Harriet published her critically acclaimed book “Medical Apartheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present” in 2007. Dan McKanan is the Ralph Waldo Emerson Unitarian Universalist Association Senior Lecturer at Harvard Divinity School, where he specializes in the American history of religious and spiritual movements for social transformation. Before coming to Harvard, he served as department chair and associate professor of theology at the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University, where he began teaching in 1998. He has written on the theological understandings of violence and nonviolence among pacifists and radical activists and Catholic social activism.
Dan’s most recent book is Prophetic Encounters: Religion and the American Radical Tradition, from Oxford University Press, that provides an all-encompassing history of American religious activism for social transformation.
