The new cold war and nuclear arms race
Prof. Peter Kuznick (kooz-nick) is a professor of history at American University in Washington DC where he is also serves as the director of the university’s Nuclear Studies Institute.  He has specialized American political history, the history of nuclear weapons, and the Cold war.
Prof. Kuznick is the co-author with academy award winning film director Oliver Stone of the New York Times bestseller “The Untold History of the United States”, which is the basis for the television series with the same title on Showtime.  In the revisionist tradition of Howard Zinn, Morris Berman and others, Peter’s research focuses the darker elements that shaped the US during the past century into the present moment whereby today the US is commonly regarded as an empire, with imperialist ambitions around the world. Recently he has been focused upon the return to a Cold War and the rebuilding of nuclear weapons arsenals in the stand off between the US and Russia and other nuclear powers such as China and North Korea.

Terry Strada is a mother, 9/11 widow, and a Special Interest Advocate and National Chair for 9/11 Families & Survivors United for Justice Against Terrorism. She serves as liaison between the 9/11 families & survivors and the U.S. Congress and Legislative Directors who are responsible for national security and terrorism legislation. Terry co-created a grassroots campaign to advocate for President Obama to declassify the redacted 28 pages from the Joint Congressional Inquiry Into Intelligence Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attack of September 11, 2001 and to urge Congress to enact the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act or JASTA.  The JASTA bill enables families and survivors of 9/11 to pursue justice against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the role they played in knowingly financing al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, and the 19 hijackers who commandeered the four commercial aircrafts. Terry is published on CNN’s Op-ed section, the Huffington Post, Daily News and The Hill.  She has frequently been interviewed on CNN and appeared on Fox Business, BBC International, the Today Show, RT, CNN International and other media outlets discussing both JASTA and declassification of the 28 pages.  Her website is PassJASTA.org and people can also go to 28Pages.org for further information.

Charles Glass is an American-British journalist and broadcaster who is highly respected internationally for his investigative reporting from the Middle East.  For a decade starting in 1983, he was ABC’s chief Middle East correspondent and worked with CNN and ABC as well. His articles appear in the Guardian, Time, The Telegraph, Harpers Newsweek and other publications.  in 1987, while reporting from Lebanon  Charles was kidnapped and held hostage by Shi’a militants for over 2 months.  He broke the story of Saddam Hussain possessing biological weapons a year later. His covert reporting in East Timor in 1992 resulted in the US Senate suspending military aid to Indonesia.  He has reported from Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq on many occasions.  Charles is the author of seven books, his most recent being a very concise history and background into the Syrian crisis entitled “Syria Burning: A Short History of a Catastrophe.”  His website is CharlesGlass.net

Prof. Rebecca Gordon is a professor of political philosophy and theories of justice at the University of San Francisco where she is also associated with the school’s Leo McCarthy Center for Public Service and the Common Good. Through much of her career Rebecca has worked in national and international peace and justice movements including the anti-apartheid movement in the US and South Africa; liberation struggles among the poor in Central America – much of 1984 in the war zones of Nicaragua --, and anti-war efforts opposing the US’ invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq.   She is a founder of the Californians for Justice, a statewide organization working on behalf of marginalized social, racial and ethnic groups.  Prof. Gordon holds a BA from Reed College and her doctorate in Ethics and Social Theory from Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. She has published several books dealing with conflicts in Central America, welfare reform, and the ethical issues concerning torture during the post 911 period.
