What animals teach us about health and disease and the science of healing Dr. Barbara Natterson-Horowitz is the attending cardiologist at the University of California Los Angeles’ Medical Center, a professor at UCLA’s Division of Cardiology and director of the schools Cardiac Imaging Center. She is also a trained psychiatrist and served as a chief resident at UCLA’s Neuropsychiatric Institute and specializes in the relationship between psychological states and heart disease. Later Dr. Natterson-Horowitz began exploring veterinarian and animal sciences to uncover what animals can teach us for improving health and clinical care, particularly in treating the same diseases suffered by humans and other species. She became a member of the Los Angeles Zoo’s Medical Advisory Board and is the founder of the Zoobiquity Research Center. She is also the co-author of a recent fascinating book “Zoobiquity: What Animals Can Teach Us About Health and the Science of Healing.”
