Today's guest is Professor Sandra Steingraber and she is an internationally recognized biologist, environmentalist, poet and activist in the tradition of Rachel Carson. She is a professor at Ithaca College in upstate New York and was named by Utne Reader as one of the top 25 visionaries changing our world in 2010.
As a cancer survivor, having protracted bladder cancer at the age of 20, she has researched thoroughly cancer clusters associated with industrial pollution and has written extensively on the drop in the age of puberty among girls, agricultural famines, cancer and the environment. She has written several important books that have resulted in her being heralded as the next Rachel Carson by the Sierra Club, honorary doctorates, and named woman of the year by Ms Magazine.
Her most recent book is “Raising Elijah: Protecting our Children in an Age of Environmental Crisis”.
