How the US has become a bullying nation and its consequences
Prof Charles Derber is a professor of Sociology at Boston College and a prolific author specializing in political economy and sociology, the environment and social change. He has written on the economic crisis, capitalism and globalization, corporate culture, fascism, war and peace and progressive movements, and is perhaps best known for analyzing the dynamics of corporate power. Charles has a long background in human rights activism having worked with voting African Americans in the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party in the 60s and protesting the Vietnam War. Prof Derber received degrees from Yale and later a doctorate from the University of Chicago. His articles and opinion pieces have appeared in the International Herald Tribune, Boston Globe, Christian Science Monitor, Tikkun and other media sources. His books include "Sociopathic Society", "The Morality Wars" and his latest is “Bully Nation: How the American Establishment Creates a Bullying Society” co written with University of Massachusetts sociology professor Yale Magrass, and investigates the roots of despotic bullying in our institutions.
