The Wall Street Lobby and why the bankers will always win and how they control government, with guest Jeff Connaughton. Jeff Connaughton is an attorney who has worked on both sides of Washington – in government and with the lobbying industry. He was the Deputy Finance Director for Joe Biden’s presidential run in 1987 and later served as his Special Assistant when Biden chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee. While working with Chief Judge Mikva and moved into the White House when Judge Mikva was appointed as Bill Clintons Counsel. IN 2000, Jeff left government to enter lobbying and helped found Quinn Gillespie & Associates, one of Washington’s leading lobbying firms. Upon leaving the lobbying world and returning to government o work with Senator Ted Kaufman on financial reform legislation to counter bank fraud and the protections of of the myth of “too big to fail” where he witnessed how everyone in Washington, including Obama, had backed down and refused to fight the Wall street banks. Last year, Jeff released a book about the influence of financial lobbying and how it undermines public trust and interests: “The Big Payoff: Why Wall Street Always Wins”
