Today's guest is Dr. William “Bill” Wilson and he is a member of the Scottish Parliament, representing the Scottish National Party.  He has higher degrees in Zoology and Information Technology, and a doctorate in ecology and environmental sciences.    Before entering politics, Dr. Wilson worked for over a decade as a researcher and conservationist in environmental and wild life projects.

Also, we have Dr. Doug Rokke and he is an expert in depleted uranium and its health risks. Having served in the US armed forces for four decades, including combat duty in Vietnam and Gulf War 1, he is a retired Major who was the US Army's Depleted Uranium Project Director in the mid-90s, and developed the congressionally mandated education and training materials for dealing with depleted uranium incidents.

One thing that was not mentioned on your show was the measure of the tragedy of depleted uranium. I think something should be said about this. For example it is far greater than the Holocaust for more than one reason. First, the tragedy of depleted uranium affects more people. Second, the horrors of the Holocaust have thankfully become only a dreadful memory. Depleted uranium does not have the potential of becoming memory for the rest of the time that man might be on this planet. Man has not been on the planet for anything close to 4 million years and even not considering the tragedy of uranium in all probability will not be here 4 million years from now. Maybe we have even hastened our extinction.

Lastly, I do not recall hearing anything on your show about the history of how the decision to use depleted uranium was made. Just how and when was this decision made? Who is responsible?
