The role of breath in healing, stress and anxiety reduction, emotional balance

Dr. Patricia Gerbarg MD is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at New York Medical College and an integrative, holistic psychiatrist in her private practice. A graduate of Harvard Medical School and the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute, Patricia’s research focuses on mind-body practices for survivors mass catastrophes such as the Southeast Asian tsunami, 911 attacks, the BP Deep Horizon spill and military veterans suffering from PTSD.

Together with her husband Dr. Richard Brown, a clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia University, she has authored several books on yoga and neuropsychanalysis, the use of herbs and nutrients in mental health care.  The couples most recent book is “The Healing Power of the Breath: Simple Techniques to Reduce Stress and Anxiety, Enhance Concentration and Balance Your Emotions.”
