Obama's and Trump's Militarization of Space

 

Bruce Gagnon is the Coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space and the co-founder of the Global Network. For over three decades he has focused on the militarization of space and organized Florida's largest peace demonstration in opposition of the first test flight of the Trident 2 nuclear missile at Cape Canaveral.  Several of his investigative reports have been recognized by Project Censored as the most censored stories during their respective years. In 2006 he received the Dr. Benjamin Spock Peacemaker Award. More recently Bruce has built support for the Jeju Island off of South Korea in opposition to the US's construction of a Navy base, which was featured in the documentary film Ghosts of Jeju, and has been going head to head against General Dynamics at the Bath Maine site that buildings war ships. His articles have appeared in the Earth Island Journal, Counterpunch, Asia Times, Commondreams, Space News and many other publications, and he is a co-author with Noam Chomsky and John Pilger of the recent book "Voices for Peace: War, Resistance, and America’s Quest for Full-spectrum Dominance."  His website is Space4Peace.org

Dr. Gareth Porter is an award-winning historian, an independent investigative journalist and policy analyst who specializes in US geopolitics and national security issues.  During the Vietnam war, he was Dispatch News Services Bureau Chief in Saigon and later a co-director for the Indochina Resource Center.  In addition to being a specialist in Vietnamese and Cambodian affairs, he has been reporting on the Middle East, including the chemical gas attacks reported in Syria, for the past decade. For the past 9 years he has been investigating US and Israeli tensions with Iran and US intelligence operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Gareth has an MA in international relations from the University of Chicago and a doctorate in Southeast Asian Studies from Cornell University.  He has published five major books dealing with Vietnam and Cambodia. His most recent is “Manufactured Crisis: The Untold Story of the Iran Nuclear Scare”, which debunks the myths regarding Iran as a nuclear threat.

Prof Mark Crispin Miller is a professor of media, culture and communications at New York University where he specializes in modern propaganda, history of advertising, film and the major media.  He is the lead chief editor of the series Forbidden Bookshelf, which republishes important books that have censored, banned, ignored or wrongly criticized in the course of American history -- such as works by IF Stone, Lewis Mumford, Peter Dale Scott, Christopher Simpson and others.  Mark received his Masters and Doctorate at Johns Hopkins University. He has written and contributed to many books, including "Loser take All" and "Fooled Again" which covered election fraud.
